Happy Fall Everyone!
As most of you know, October is Bullying Prevention Month. October is a month full of different lessons and activities to prepare students to prevent bullying situations. This month, counseling classroom lessons are focused on bullying prevention and intervention. During class time, students have been working on projects to display how they can take responsibility to stop bullying at their school.
October is full of different activities and opportunities for students to be involved here at Forsyth Middle School. Our first school day in the month of October (October 3rd) was BLUE SHIRT DAY, when students were encouraged to wear blue in order to display their support for bullying prevention. Students were also able to create a link in our Prevention Chain, which will be displayed in the hallways of our school. Here at Forsyth Middle School, we are "Linking Up to Prevent Bullying."
If you forgot to wear blue, there are other opportunities to get involved this month. Unity Day will be on Wednesday, October 19th. Unity Day is a day when we recognize kindness, acceptance, and inclusion while also promoting bullying prevention. On Wednesday, October 19th, wear orange to show your support for kindness, inclusion, and bullying prevention.
On Unity Day, students will be encouraged to contribute to our Unity Day Mural, which will be displayed in our hallways for the rest of the month.
Our second Character Education Assembly was held on Wednesday, October 5th. Our character word of the month is Responsibility. Despite many technical difficulties, many students were recognized for their accomplishments, including:
Positive Office Referrals
Students of the Month
MAP Proficient and Advanced
We did not complete all that we had planned for the assembly. However, we plan to incorporate the other activities into our Red Ribbon Week Assembly, which will be on Monday, October 24th, during 7th hour.
Red Ribbon Week will be October 24th-October 28th. We are looking forward to promoting a healthy, drug free lifestyle with all students at Forsyth Middle School. More information will be coming your way soon regarding Red Ribbon Week!
